Welcome To The Society of Renal Nutrition And Metabolism

Overview

The Department of Nephrology, SGPGIMS, warmly invites you to participate in Advance Course In Renal Nutrition And Metabolism which is being organized on April 20th -21st 2019 under the auspices of Society of Renal Nutrition and Metabolism. The aim of the course is to bring about awareness among nephrologists, physicians and dieticians on prevention and management of protein-energy-wasting (malnutrition) in chronic kidney disease (CKD) population and nutritional management of spectrum of CKD.

The scientific contents of the course and the workshop are directly related to patient care, on issues of utmost importance in day to day practice and are structured along understanding pathophysiology, causes, metabolic changes contributing to protein-energy wasting in kidney disease, evaluating screening measures of nutritional status and developing practical skills to implement and critically evaluate nutritional assessment methods, and updates on latest information on nutritional management strategies to review current renal-specific nutritional practice, nutritional guidelines and treatment options for the range of CKD conditions such as acute kidney injury, diabetic nephropathy, hypertension, glomerulopathies, end stage renal disease and transplant.. Day 1 will focuss on refreshing KDOQI Clinical Practice Guidelines on Nutrition in CKD (adults 2000, children 2009), acute kidney Injury, critical care and diabetic nephropathy. Day 2 will focus on nutritional management of spectrum of CKD for prevention of protein-energy- wasting in CKD patients.
The course will be helpful in planning more focussed approach in management of patients and will be an opportunity to interact with groups working in renal nutrition. Uttar Pradesh Medical Council has approved 8 credit hours for this course (14467/19/27.2.19).
